Did everything absolutely right that I possibly could have to make sure I covered myself at the job centre following a redundancy, so applied for universal credit the week I was laid off. I did this because it takes 6 weeks to process. I went to all the meetings, fulfilled my commitments and did 37 hours of proven job search a week but before I even had my first payment, my claim was cancelled. This was because I received my final weeks pay from the previous job. I even informed the job centre about this due payment in the first day of my claim and now I have no job, absolutely no money and the threat of losing my only means of transport is now hanging over my head. There is also no way to get in contact with them regarding universal credit to dispute their cancelling my claim, meaning that I have to undertake the whole ridiculous process again and hold out for another 6 weeks on my meagre monetary remains before I'm able to eat. Some of the staff are genuinely helpful and care but overall, it's obvious that there is absolutely no concern for real people. Everyone without a job there is considered to be a scrounger or a benefit fraud right off the mark. They've absolutely screwed me over.

Job centre. More like joke centre. Staff are not bothered any more about helping you back to work. You can't use the phones there any more so what is this place for. Is it just for benefits and shouldn't it then be called the benefits centre. I remember picking cards off a wall board and taking them to a member of staff where they sat down with me and helped get a job. What happened to that place. Oops showing my age ha ha.

They are supposed to be helping people, not setting people up to fail their UC claims. Some of the staff seem to be incompetent and have no idea what they are doing. Or doing it deliberately? Who knows? They made mistakes when filing my claim, which, if not fixed, will cause funding to be stopped (for a single parent with a small child). A huge amount of stress and anxiety has been caused by dragging out the process. Also they told me to always have my phone next to me to answer their call but they never called. Not much help, I suppose.

So I missed a job search meeting on the 2nd because I started my CSCS course on the 12th because I didn’t contact them before the 14th they stopped my claim I’m just lucky to have passed my CSCS course

Staff are friendly and warm with the exception of a young man who seemed to be struggling to understand the word no!
